New Tax Incentives for Homeowners

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) is designed to help stimulate the economy and offset some of the investment that you will make in more efficient HVAC equipment, energy efficient windows or water heating equipment to your primary residence.

The tax credit is retroactive back to January 1, 2009 and will expire on December 31, 2010.  For qualified home improvements, the tax credit is 30% of the installed cost or up to $1,500.  This is higher than any other government credit or rebate program to date. This credit does have a cap of $1,500 for the two years.

Arctic Mechanical currently offers a number of products that qualify for the tax credit:

  • Geothermal Heat Pump
    (30% tax credit with no cap)

  • All Residential Heating and Cooling manufacturers offer at least one line that meets the efficiency
    standards. (30% not to exceed $1,500.00)

  • Tankless Water Heaters
    (30% not to exceed $1,500.00)

  • Ductless Systemsl
    (30% not to exceed $1,500.00)
Nearly all manufacturers are offering rebates, in some cases up to $1200, for the purchase and Installation of qualified energy efficient system. Rebates for homes include;

Central air conditioners
Furnaces
Heat Pumps
Programmable Thermostats
Electric Water Heaters
Duct and Air sealing
ECM Furnace fans
Water and Steam Boilers
Indirect Water Heaters

Con Edison, National Grid, and Connecticut Light and Power are amongst the many utility company’s offering rebates up to $1000 for the purchase and Installation of qualified equipment. Rebates for homes include;
